FIREWORKS OVER CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE SIZE 75 BY 100 cm Boxed I was visiting some friends in the great wine region of Chateauneuf du Pape, when the locals put on a firework display to celebrate an occasion. It ignited the evening sky. It was spectacular. Earlier that day, we had been out for a run and a hawk buzzed us, swooping madly at our heads the whole way. It had a nest nearby. The wine was awesome. Too much consumed. Local hospitality is unforgettable. Price R 5500

LE PONT VALENTRE CAHORS SIZE 91 BY 61 cm This magnificent old bridge over the Lot river in the town of Cahors dates back to the 14th Century. It is one of the finest examples of medieval architecture and is the symbol of the town. I have walked on it many times. The locals protect it. Love it. Are proud of it. They are right. ROSES AT LAROQUE DES ARCS SIZE 90 BY 70 cm LAROQUE is a small village in Cahors. I was lost, poor French vocabulary at the time and stumbled upon a courtyard and was astounded to see so many roses. It was a spectacular sight. That night we were served duck with chopped potatoes and garlic prepared in a way that only the French can do. Out came the guitar, and the chef played Oh Champs Elysee! FIELDS AT CAHORS WITH POPPIES AND LAVENDER SIZE 100 BY 75 cm Boxed On our daily cycles around the outskirts of the town, we would come across these magnificent fields. We were on our way from Cahors to have a long lazy French lunch and came across this spectacular view of fields of sunflowers and lavender. Price R 5500

FIELDS AT FLAUJAC POUJOLS SIZE 61 x 91.5 cm On our first stay in this village in the town of Cahors, this was one of the beautiful fields which stretched out into the horizon. Beautiful. We used to watch foxes darting amongst the fields. Quickly. Startled and watchful. We once saw a wild boar, nervous, snuffling up some roots. Price R 4400

POPPIES IN A FIELD AT ARCAMBAL SIZE 60 x 100 cm This village in Cahors used to have an annual running race. One year we were there for the race and the run went through these fields. At the end of the run everyone received a huge box of strawberries and of course some bottles of local wine. We saw an old man collecting snails from a field in a wire basket. Price R 3200
